I need help with the frame structures in chemistry?
The CsCl structure is an array of cubic ion cesium chloride with an ion in the center of each cubic matrix. Since the density of cesium chloride is 3.97 g / cm 3, and assuming that ions of cesium chloride and touch the body along the diagonal mesh cube, calculate the distance between centers of adjacent Cs + and Cl - ions in the solid. Compare this with the usual distance based on the size of the ions. The ionic radius of Cs + is 169 hours, and the ionic radius of Cl - is 181 hours. Calculate the distance between the centers and the distance prescribed in hours
Suppose in the bucket, it is possible to members of the CS (+) ion and the corners are occupied by Cl (-) ions. Therefore, there are 2 ions effectively in each one cell of the device. The molecular mass of solid CsCl was 132.9 35.5 = 164.8 g / mol, but each mole contains 6023 * 10 ^ 23 entities. Therefore, the mass of each entity (each cube we discussed earlier) is 2.7362 * 10 ^ -22 grams, therefore, the volume of each cube is = mass / density = 6.89 * 10 ^ -23 cm 3 = 6.89 * 10 ^ -29 m3 = cubic So each side = 4.1 Angstroms = 410 picometer The body length of the diagonal = sqrt (3) * 410 = 710 picometer But it's twice the value that the distance between the 2 ions (we have already crossed the diameter of cesium ions and twice the radius of the chloride). Thus, distance = 355 picometer. The term suggested by data = 169 181 = 350 picometer. This is a good agreement.
